Ordering
Items may be ordered using either Library BookVote Funds or Divisional Funds. Resources required for new research and teaching areas can be recommended for purchase through the collection building priorities process.
Library BookVote Funds
Every year the Library allocates funds from the Library budget for the purchase of books, DVDs, posters, kits, other single order items and serials. These items build the Library collection and are for use by the students and staff of Macquarie University. This allocation is known as Library BookVote Fund. Academic staff of Macquarie University select materials for purchase by the Library from Library BookVote Funds.

Resources required for Reserve and E-Reserve collections
Course reading lists, multiple copy requests and requests for purchases for Reserve are to be directed to Learning Resources, Library. For further information see Reserve for Academic Staff.
Collection building priorities and deadlines
The Library recognises that new research and teaching directions require support through the purchase of relevant Library resources. The collection building priorities process enables academic staff to recommend resources to be purchased to develop the Library’s collection in new areas especially in relation to resources purchased on a subscription basis.
Current priorities and deadlines are outlined in Library Collection Priorities and Ordering Process 2008.
Divisional Funds
When staff of Divisions or Departments require books or other single order items (eg DVDs) for use in their work and research they are required to make these purchases via the Library with charges going back to the Department or Divisional Funds. The books and other single order items will be added to the Library collection and are made available to the requesting staff for long-term loan.
