Off-Air Recording
Under the licence between Macquarie University and Sceenrights (the licensing
body which covers usage of audio and video material), staff and enrolled
Macquarie students are permitted to bring videotapes and other material
from home to use for the purposes of research or study. This includes
videotapes of off-air recordings that have been made at home.
To ensure that the University complies with the agreement, staff and students must
follow a few simple procedures:
Copyright Unit - Conditions of Use for Off-Air Broadcasts of Radio and Television Programmes
For off-air programs normally requested for Reserve and/or for the General collection, the Library can investigate purchase of the material from a commercial service. Requests for purchase need to be made at least four weeks prior to requiring the material. Contact your Liaison Librarian or the Learning Resources (Reserve) team for more information.
Programs which have been recorded and retained or purchased through commercial outlets are catalogued and shelved in the AV Collection on Level 3. High demand items are kept in Reserve on Level 2.
