Delivery Services for Distance Students
Library material delivered to your door or desktop!
Distance Education Students who live outside the Sydney Metropolitan area may request information to be sent from the Library to their home address.

Postal Loans Service
Books from the Library's open access collection can be sent to you through the postal loans service. Books from the Reserve or 3-Day Loan Collections will not be sent.
Some Audiovisual material can also be sent as a postal loan. We regret that books and some other media cannot be sent overseas. Fines accrue daily on any overdue items.
Document Delivery Service
Copies of journal articles or copies from chapters of books in the Library Reserve or 3 Day Loan collections can be delivered to your desktop computer.
If you are using a Macintosh this system does not support MSIE 5.2 and you will need to use Netscape 6.2.2.
You will need a TIFF viewer. To use TIFF documents follow the instructions below.
- Download and test a PC TIFF viewer.
- Download a Mac TIFF viewer for OS8 and OS9. OSX has an inbuilt viewer.
- Please note that there is a conflict between QuickTime and the TIFF format
- If you have problems downloading a TIFF Viewer or your TIFF Viewer does not work, please contact Just Ask or telephone MQ IT Help on 9850 7500

Under the provisions of the Copyright Act, 1968, as amended, we are limited to sending only one chapter or 10% of a book or one article from an issue of a journal.
How will items be sent to me?
Requested books will be posted to your address. Please notify the Academic Programs
section and the Library if your address has changed. You will receive an e-mail notification when the book has been sent.
Journal articles will be delivered electronically to your desktop. You will receive an e-mail
notification when the article is available.
How do I return Items?
Books must be received by the Library by the date due. The date due is clearly marked on the date due slip inside the front or back cover of each item sent to you. Fines accrue for materials returned late. Copies do not need to be returned.
Do I pay for the service?
The Library Distance Education Service does not charge for its services. We pay the postage costs of sending items out to you. You pay for returning them.
How long does the service take?
Please allow 2 weeks for your requests to be processed.We suggest that you submit your requests for material as early as possible.
Where else may I obtain library materials?
There may be library facilities in your local area.Distance Education students may be eligible to gain borrowing privileges at other Australian University or Tertiary Institution libraries.Overseas students may also be able to gain borrowing privileges at local institutions.
