The Lachlan & Elizabeth Macquarie Archive (LEMA) is a digital project providing full-text manuscript transcriptions and associated research materials relating to the lives and times of Governor Lachlan Macquarie (1761-1824) and his second wife, Elizabeth [nee Campbell] (1778-1835).

Imperial Eyes Imperial Eyes 1807
Returning home from India in 1807, Lachlan Macquarie sailed from Bombay through the Persian Gulf to Iraq. After reaching Baghdad, he and his companions travelled overland through Iran and Russia, and finally sailed home to England via Denmark and Sweden.
