Imperial Eyes 1807 Returning home from India in 1807, Lachlan Macquarie sailed from Bombay through the Persian Gulf to Iraq. After reaching Baghdad, he and his companions travelled overland through Iran and Russia, and finally sailed home to England via Denmark and Sweden.
