The Library’s training rooms are available to support the following training goals:

  • Information skills training
  • One-off orientation sessions for students [e.g. online units via Blackboard; coursework/research resources]
  • University systems training for staff

Please check the room and software details below before booking to ensure that it will meet your requirements.

Please note the Library training rooms are not available for teaching purposes by University Faculties and Departments.  If rooms are required for teaching purposes or for continuing sessions over a period of time please contact the Office of Facilities Management [OFM].

Location

Level 1 of Macquarie University Library.

Type of function

Information skills training, one-off course orientation sessions for students by Macquarie University staff, university systems training.

Equipment

  • Multimedia computers with 1.99GB RAM
  • Internet access (not available to commercial organisations)
  • An instructor's computer connected to a data projector.
  • 15 student terminals.
  • Standard software applications are installed in all computers. See full list.
Requests for equipment must be specified at the time of booking to ensure its availability. Please note that technical assistance for equipment will not be provided.

Capacity

The training rooms contain 15 PCs each however it is possible to accommodate the following numbers in the room in total.

  • Training room 1: 27 people
  • Training room 2: 24 people

Non-standard software

  • It may be possible to load additional software however please note that this will be the responsibility of the trainer booking the room to organise and coordinate the installation.
  • If additional software is to be loaded it is recommended that an additional booking for the room be made at least 2-3 weeks prior to the actual session to install and test the applications.
  • Under no condition will unlicensed or beta applications be installed on the training room PCs.
  • There is limited IT support for any software that is outside our standard applications.

Training Files

  • A shared folder is available from the Desktop on all training room PCs to provide access to any training files required for the session.
  • Storage of files over 2 or more days can be arranged. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

Room Availability

Monday to Fridays. Access is also available on weekends.

Catering

Facilities are available for trainers to supply morning and afternoon tea.
